Terms and Conditions of Hire

The Hirer agrees to hire the specified bicycle and accessories  (together, “equipment”), to pay the cost of hire, and accept the terms on this form.

Payment and Security Deposit

All rentals are payable in advance, in full, and Ribble Valley E-Bikes Ltd accepts payment by credit card, debit card, PayPal or cash.

Additionally, the Hirer will be required to provide credit or debit card details when hiring from Ribble Valley E-Bikes Ltd, against which a pre-advised Security Deposit shall be applied before hire commences and shall be cancelled upon return of the equipment, subject to the following terms.

Collection and Delivery

Equipment booked and paid for in advance will be available for collection / delivered at the pre-arranged time and location as agreed at the time of booking.

If, for any unforeseen reason, delivery by Ribble Valley E-Bikes Ltd of any item(s) of equipment ordered is not possible then a full refund will be given or equivalent item offered as replacement.

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice must be given for cancellation of an advance booking by email or telephone, otherwise payment will be taken in full.

Should the hirer request, bikes can be replaced or changed, providing not damaged, free of charge for a bike of equivalent hire value, or for additional, pro-rata, charge for an upgraded model,  subject to stock availability.

Hirer must return the equipment by the specified time and date.

Late Returns / Early Returns

Unless previously agreed with Ribble Valley E-Bikes, all bikes and accessories must be returned within the specified hire period.

A charge for late return will be applied on a pro-rata basis.

No full or partial refunds will be given for early return or cancellation during the period of hire of bikes or accessories under any circumstances, including adverse weather conditions.

Safety and Security

The Hirer accepts complete responsibility during the period of hire for the safe custody of the equipment and for any loss, theft or damage (howsoever caused). Hirer is responsible for the security of the bicycle and must lock it to a fixed object whenever unattended and keep the equipment safeguarded at all times.

Any loss, theft, damage or accident should be notified to the hire company immediately and, in the case of theft or accident, also to the nearest police station.

Two keys and a key fob are provided, one for the lock and one for the battery and a key fob to start the bike.  These keys and key fob must be removed from the bike and battery whenever the bicycle is left unattended.  The Renter accepts all responsibility for the care and use of these keys and key fob.  A charge may be made for any keys or key fob not returned and for any vehicle pickup required arising from the loss of keys.

The hirer is responsible for the maintaining the equipment in a satisfactory and safe condition and fit for purpose.

All electric cycle users must be a minimum of 14 years old.  It is against the law to operate an electric bike below this age.  All children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Cycling Manner and Safe Practice

Please cycle sensibly, with respect for others and the natural habitat.

Bikes hired from Ribble Valley E-Bikes are suitable for use on road and cycle paths only.  The Hirer agrees that they shall not be ridden off-road or taken on any unmade bridleways, roads or tracks.

Electric bikes must not be submerged in water. Cycling in the rain is fine but streams, rivers or deep puddles must be avoided.

As Hirer, you accept that cycling has risks and confirm that you are a competent cyclist. You should not ride if you are in ill health, have a disability likely to affect ability to cycle, or your eyesight is not up to the standard required by a road driving test.

Do not ride under the influence of alcohol, strong medication or other drugs.

Failure to comply with the above will result in the immediate confiscation of all bikes and accessories, with no entitlement to refund or other compensation.

It is strongly advised that you wear a helmet and use other appropriate safety equipment and clothing.

Front and rear lights are required in hours of reduced light.

Follow the highway code. Do not ride on pavements, against traffic, or more than two abreast. Do not run red lights. Be courteous to pedestrians and other road users. Ride responsibly: do not attempt any manoeuvres beyond your skill level or the bike’s specific capabilities.

You accept full responsibility if you ignore any of the above and Ribble Valley E-Bikes will not be held liable for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property that results. Save in respect of liability for personal injury or death resulting from our negligence, Ribble Valley E-Bike’s liability to you whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise is limited to the cost of hire. You agree to indemnify Ribble Valley E-Bikes against any liabilities, costs, expenses, damages and losses arising out of or in connection with the death or injury to any person or any damage to property resulting from your hire or use of the equipment. We advise that you do not ride without personal and third-party liability insurance.

RIBBLE VALLEY E-BIKES LTD RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE HIRE OF BIKES AND ACCESSORIES TO ANY INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP
